• Vacation Email — a common nickname for a service which sends an automatic reply to senders while the intended recipient of a message is away from her office and email.
• VoIP — Voice Over Internet Protocol. MIT's primary phone service is based on this.
• volume (AFS) — An set of files and folders in AFS.
• VPN — Virtual Private Network, refers to a server and client software allowing computers to connect securely over the internet to a server on a private or institutional network, such as MITnet, making it appear to the computer that it is directly connected to this network.
