Sophos Quarantine Manager

Starting July of 2021, IS&T has migrated to a new version of Sophos called Sophos Central. MIT users have until the summer of 2022 before the old version will stop receiving updates. This page references the legacy version of Sophos. You can see documentation for the new Sophos Central here and download the newest version of Sophos here.

This article guides you through how to clear up threats once they have been detected.

Mac OS X

The Sophos alert says threats were detected.

When you open the Quarantine Manager, you see:

You can click the padlock at the bottom corner to unlock the page, and will be asked for a Mac Administrator password.

You can select a threat line, and press the Clean Up Threat button.

You will be warned that the Clean Up may delete files.

Clean Up may take a few minutes.

To view details of a threat, click the triangle by Threat Details to open an information area at the bottom. You can see the Path and Filename of the threat. The example shown is a bad attachment that came in email.
