Access network drive while logged in to Citrix Workspace

Some departments, labs or centers may store BrioQuery reports (.bqy files) on a centralized server. Macintosh users who have connected to a server from their Mac can follow the steps below to access that server from their Citrix session.

Solution

  1. Navigate in your web browser, with certificates, to https://citrixapps.mit.edu/.
Note: From off campus, you will need to first connect to the MIT VPN.
  2. Launch an application, such as BrioQuery or Internet Explorer.
    Result: Citrix Workspace launches.
  3. Follow the menu path Citrix Workspace > Settings.

  4. Select Devices. Select the checkboxes if you want your USB devices to be either automatically connected at session start or when a new device is connected while the session is running.
  5. Select File Access. Choose if you want to always allow access (Read only or Read and Write) to your local file system. If you choose Ask Me Each Time you will be prompted to grant access each time you launch an application in Citrix.
  6. When you select an Open of Save dialog box from any application in Citrix you will be prompted to grant access (if that option is checked).
  7. Grant permission to "access files from this application" (if promted). When you browse This PC from the file explorer, you will see your local drives mapped.
