MAC address stands for Media Access Control address and is a unique identifier for the physical network hardware in your computer or network-enabled device. A MAC address is a 12 digit hexadecimal string (meaning it includes numbers 0-9 and letters a-f) that uniquely identifies your network hardware from any other network hardware of any other kind, be it Ethernet, wireless, bluetooth or mobile broadband (essentially another wireless card).
