Q: Sophos Central - How do I temporarily disable Sophos for Troubleshooting?
Starting July of 2021, IS&T has migrated to a new version of Sophos called Sophos Central. MIT users have until the summer of 2022 before the old version will stop receiving updates. This page references the new version of Sophos. You can see documentation for legacy Sophos here and download the newest version of Sophos here. |
Answer
If you suspect that Sophos Central is conflicting with the function of your computer, there is a mechanism for disabling Sophos Central for 4 hours. Open the Sophos Central application and click on the Settings tab.
macOS
On macOS you will need to click the Admin Login and enter the credentials of an admin user before you can override the Sophos settings.
Once authenticated, simply turn-off the slider switch for the item you'd like to disable temporarily.
Windows
On Windows, simply click the settings tab, then turn-off the slider switch for the item you'd like to disable temporarily.
If you'd like to completely uninstall Sophos Central, please follow the instructions for macOS or Windows.
