Q: Why does the "lastlog" command on Debathena no longer tell me when an MIT user last logged in?

Answer

The lastlog command on most Debathena workstations is provided by the operating system, and only provides information on local users. There lastlog command in the consult locker uses AFS volume information to tell you when a user last logged in. For more information, see [archive:How can I find out when someone last logged on to Athena?].
