Q: How do signatures work in RT?

Answer

Personal signatures can be created and edited in the "Preferences" section of RT. They can then be inserted into e-mails using the "Insert Signature" checkbox. As you will see, this will simply append the text to your e-mail. However, default signatures can also be set from an administrative standpoint. This signature will not be overwritten if you add your own. It will appear under your personal signature.

Viewing your e-mail as the client sees it
To see your sent e-mail as the client will see it, click "[Show]" on the update that reads "RT_System - Outgoing email recorded." Also note that if you are a requestor of a ticket you own (for testing purposes, perhaps), you cannot send e-mails to yourself.
