Removing access or deleting a 'closed' Stellar site
Q: My stellar site is no longer active. How can I delete the site completely?
Context
- Admin or instructor
- Stellar site for completed semester
- Wish to prevent access to materials or submitted homeworks/solutions
Answer
It's not possible to completely delete your Stellar course sites, but you can prevent anyone from accessing the site.
Registered students
To block students who have registered for the class, please follow the steps below for each Stellar course site:
- Go to the course Home Page.
- Click on the Membership link in the Navigation bar on the left.
- For every member in the Members list, click on the link marked "Block" across from their name.
- The access designation will then change to "Unblock" indicating that the current state is to be Blocked from course access.
Non-MIT users
Unfortunately, there is no way to block non-MIT students, you can only remove them entirely from the site.
To remove non-MIT students from the site, please follow these steps for each Stellar course site:
- Go to the course Home Page.
- When you see the message that says "This course is no longer active", please click on link to "Control Access to this Site" in the second paragraph.
- Under the "Site Access"tab, make sure the setting is set to "Class Only" and then click on the "Participants" tab.
- Put a check mark in the check box next to the name of the students you wish to delete from the site and click Submit.
