Microsoft authentication configuration change, March 31, 2023
On March 31, 2023, Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) is enhancing our authentication configuration for Microsoft cloud applications using Azure, in order to keep pace with Microsoft's updated security posture.
Azure configuration changes
Azure provides services for applications such as Office 365, Exchange Online, OneDrive, and others. This configuration will ensure that all services that interact with this Microsoft platform follow a uniform authentication flow, and will place a maximum 30-day time limit on authentication tokens to comply with security best practices.
What to expect
When implemented, these changes will require users to re-authenticate using Touchstone as active email client sessions expire, in order to adopt the new settings for Microsoft-integrated applications, including Outlook, Apple Mail, Office 365, and OneDrive. Apps and integrations connected to Microsoft services may need to be re-enabled.
The text on the Duo confirmation screen will change slightly, identifying the service being logged into as "MIT Touchstone (Azure)” instead of "Touchstone.”
