Archive Facebook conversations

In these instructions you will learn how to obtain an offline archive of a conversation with an individual carried on Facebook Messenger. This is done using Facebook's "Download Your Information" tools which create a complete archive of all conversations into browsable folders, each containing an HTML file for each person a conversation has been had with. 

1. Open Facebook to Settings > Your Facebook Information 
    
2. Select the date range for the conversations that you need, Format: HTML, and make sure that the only selection below is "Messages", then click Create File
   
3.  This creates a request with Facebook to archive the requested information. It will take a few minutes to generate the archive. Once ready you will receive a Notification from Facebook that it is ready to download. Click this notification and then the Download button from the Available Files page
   
4. The Messages archive will download as a .zip file. Expand this file and browse its contents
   
5. The messages are usually sorted inside the "Messages\Inbox\" folder with each subfolder for each user that a conversation has been had.
6. Look for the person's name as the folder name (without spaces). Inside this folder is the archive of conversations. Copy this folder to a thumb drive or email it as necessary.
