Q: How do I reinstall the OpenAFS metapackages for Debathena?
Answer
If you are running Debian or Ubuntu with stock kernel, you should not need to install OpenAFS modules, as they should be available via the Debathena OpenAFS metapackages.
If for some reason the metapackages are not installed, you can follow the procedure here to obtain them:
Ubuntu
sudo aptitude install openafs-modules-generic sudo /etc/init.d/openafs-client restart
You may need to specify a flavor other than generic if you are using a kernel flavor other than the default.
Debian
sudo aptitude install openafs-modules-2.6-686 sudo /etc/init.d/openafs-client restart
You may need to specify a flavor other than 686 if you are using a kernel flavor other than the default.
