Highlighting doesn't persist in SAPgui

Context

I highlight a particular field in SAPgui, for example, the cost object in the Summary Statement. I let go of the mouse, expecting the area to stay highlighted so that I can then choose Ctrl+C to copy, or the delete key to delete. But when I let go of the mouse, the highlighting disappears.

Solution

Turn off Quick Cut and Paste option. Quick Cut and Paste may have been enabled in the Customizing Local Layout options for SAP. This option would copy to the clipboard your selection immediately (and remove the highlighting once you let go of your left mouse button) and then allow you to right click on another field where it will paste the copied information. The option may have been inadvertently turned on.

  1. On Windows, use Alt+F12, or select the colorful icon at the far right of the SAPgui toolbar, to view the Customizing Local Layout menu.
  2. If there is a check next to Quick Cut and Paste, select the item again to remove the check.

Dropdown Menu

Note: The above instructions are for Windows. If you are seeing this behavior in SAPgui on Macintosh, contact the Computing Help Desk, at helpdesk@mit.edu or x3-1101.
