Q: How can I find my MATLAB license number?

Answer

When contacting The MathWorks for support, you may need to provide your license number. All copies of MATLAB have their license number available via the ver command:

 >> ver
 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 MATLAB Version 7.1.0.183 (R14) Service Pack 3
 MATLAB License Number: 123456
 Operating System: Linux 2.6.9-34.EL #1 Fri Feb 24 16:44:51 EST 2006 i686
 Java VM Version: Java is not enabled
 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the example above, the license number would be "123456".

Note: If you have a lot of toolboxes, this information may scroll off the top of the screen. Use the scrollbar to scroll back up to the top to view your license number.
