Q: I want to share an MIT Google Apps calendar with my students

Context

  • MIT G Suite for Education
  • You have one or more MIT G Suite for Education calendars you'd like to share with your students (for office hours, resources, etc.)

Answer

Option 1: Ask your students to sign up for MIT G Suite for Education

This is the simplest and recommended solution. Any of your students who do not have one already can sign up for MIT G Suite for Education accounts by filling out the form at:

You can then share calendars with their username@mit.edu addresses and they will be able to access and, if given permission, update those calendars whenever they are logged into their MIT G Suite accounts.

Option 2: Use personal Gmail accounts

MIT G suite for Education allows you to share calendars with users outside our G Suite organization. If you don't mind the administrative overhead of collecting personal Google addresses, you can share a calendar with those addresses as needed.

For more information on these and other Google calendaring account restrictions and Google's documentation on the work-arounds, see http://support.google.com/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=74783.
