Un-installing TSM Backup on Mac
Given certain circumstances, you may wish to remove TSM backup from your Mac. One such reason would be when you retire a computer, for instance. Failure to remove TSM from the "old" computer can lead to problems getting TSM to run properly.
If for any reason you wish to remove TSM backup from your Mac, please follow these steps:
Uninstalling TSM from Mac OSX
- Stop the TSM Scheduler by running TSM Tools for Administrators
- Selecting either Stop the Client Acceptor Daemon or Stop the Scheduler.
- Quit any TSM Backup program running.
- Remove the TSM application folder and all its contents.
- Delete the TSM configuration files:
- For Mac OS X 10.4.7 and later, these are dsm.sys, dsm.opt and TSM.PWD located in /Library/Preferences/Tivoli Storage Manager/
- In earlier versions of Mac OS X, they are TSM System Preferences, TSM User Preferences and TSM.PWD.
- For Mac OS X 10.4.7 and later, these are dsm.sys, dsm.opt and TSM.PWD located in /Library/Preferences/Tivoli Storage Manager/
- Launch Terminal application: Applications > Utilities > Terminal.
- In a Terminal window run
sudo /Library/Application\ Support/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/uninstall.sh
- You will be prompted for the local administrator password. Enter it.
- In a Terminal window run
- Additionally, you may want to remove the TSM configuration files - this is important to do if you need to change your TSM nodename. To do this, enter the following command:
sudo rm -rf /Library/Preferences/Tivoli\ Storage\ Manager
