TSM System State backing up and is slowing down my machine

I noticed that in my TSM backups there is a filespace called SystemState\Null\Systemstate\stystemstate that seems to be slowing down my backups. Can I tell TSM not to back this up?

YES - you can exclude systemstate from your backups by doing this:

  1. Startup the TSM Backup-Archive GUI
  2. Go to the Edit menu
  3. Select Client Preferences
  4. Click on the Backup tab, uncheck "Backup all local file systems"
  5. Check only the drive you want backed up, presumably your ‘C’ drive. This will skip the ‘systemstate’ files.
  6. Save the changes by clicking Apply then OK.
  7. Quit TSM and restart your machine.
Result: TSM will not backup your systemstate files.
