Stellar is Retiring on October 15, 2025
![]() | The legacy Stellar Learning Management System will be retiring on October 15, 2025. All content is being preserved. If you no longer need any historical materials in Stellar, you do not need to take any action. |
What should I do if I need materials from Stellar?
If it is before October 15, you may access your past site in Stellar as you normally would to download any materials. An easy way to find older sites in Stellar is via the Class Sites page. On or after October 15, please contact teachremote@mit.edu and a bulk export from your past site will be provided to you.
Can I move my materials to Canvas?
Absolutely. If it’s before October 15, you may request a content migration by contacting teachremote@mit.edu. On or after October 15, you may email teachremote@mit.edu to request that your content be uploaded to Canvas, or you can upload what you need to Canvas directly yourself.
How does moving materials to Canvas work?
Moving materials is a simple process. If IS&T is migrating your content, it should be ready on your Canvas site within about 1-2 business days. If you would like to move the content yourself, you may easily upload your content in bulk or as a .zip file to your Canvas site "files" page.
How can I get a Canvas site?
Canvas sites are created automatically for academic subjects. Please log into canvas.mit.edu to see which academic sites are available to you. If you do not see a site for the subject you need, please contact teachremote@mit.eduto get access.
For Stellar project sites, or any non-course use, you may request a new non-class site in Canvas here.
