Short Scorecards

This user guide demonstrates how project leads will create a Short Scorecard for on-going projects. The objective of the Short Scorecard is to provide an at-a-glance status of project’s progress and whether or not WPT assistance is required.

Steps to Completing the Short Scorecard

  1. Open the PPMO Tool.
  2. In the Main Menu click Projects. A pull down menu appears with PMO, My Projects, ROM, CAB, and Escalations.
  3. Click on My Projects; a list of projects assigned to you will display.
  4. Select a project and either double-click to open or click on the Edit button at the top of the page.
  5. On the Edit Project page, under the project name, and multiple tabs display.
  6. Click on the Scorecards tab.
  7. Click New to create a Scorecard and complete the necessary fields:
    1. Project Health: Project Health is determined by overall project viability, considering time, cost, scope, etc. Determine the correct status and make a selection from the drop down menu.
      1. Green: The project is performing to plan. All aspects of project viability — time, cost, scope, etc. — are within tolerance.
        1. Action: No action needed.
      2. Yellow: A problem has a negative effect on project performance but can be managed by the project lead. One or more aspect of project viability — time, cost, scope, etc. — is at risk of exceeding tolerances.
        1. Action: Notify the WPT via the escalation utility and note major risks in Status Summary.
        2. See Escalations for escalating a project
      3. Red: There are significant issues with the project and corrective action is needed to meet work sponsor objectives. The issue cannot be handled solely by the project lead. One or more aspects of project viability, viability — time, cost, scope, etc. — exceed tolerances.
        1. Action: Notify the WPT via the escalation utility and contact the project sponsor immediately.
        2. See Escalations for escalating a project
      4. Not Started: The project has not yet started.
    2. Status Summary: Provide a brief description of the works’ overall status. The description should be detailed enough to provide a reader with no knowledge of the project a good idea of the current state.
    3. Complete Date:  Provide estimated completion date.
      1. Baseline: Enter the planned complete date.
        1. Note: When additional Short Scorecards are created, the Baseline date will be populated from the most recent submission.
      2. Updated: Enter the updated complete date if it has changed.                                                 Sample Scorecard
