MECM - Dell BIOS Update with Dell Command Update
Automatically get the latest Dell BIOS for your computer
You can use MECM to help update your Dell computer to latest BIOS update utilizing the Dell Command Update tool. This is especially important for system using a Intel 13th and 14th Gen CPUs. The latest BIOS updates include a microcode patch (0x129) will limit voltage requests above 1.55V as a preventative mitigation for processor instability symptoms. You can create target collections for the BIOS update with our queries for Intel 13th and 14th Gen CPUs.
- In the MECM console, choose to deploy the Dell Command | Update to your target collection. It can be found under Applications -> MIT Applications
- Once you've confirmed that Dell Command | Update is deployed to your computers, you can deploy the EUC - Dell Command | Update - BIOS Update package. It can be found under Packages -> MIT Packages. Please deploy this as "Available" only, as this package requires end user input to confirm BIOS update process. This is because the package will require restarting the computer.
End User Experience
- User can select EUC - Dell Command | Update - BIOS Update from the application list in the Software Center and choose to install
- The command prompt will ask if the user would like to proceed. This will require typing Y and then hitting enter. The warning will remind the user that the computer will restart in 3 minutes after the installation has completed.
- Dell Command | Update will attempt to download the latest BIOS update and install the package.
- When complete, the computer will start a 3 minute time to restart. User still has 3 minutes to save any files.
- After restart the BIOS update process will begin. DO NOT POWER OFF the computer during this time.
