I updated to Sierra and now Dropbox desktop isn't working

Dropbox has advised MacOS Sierra users to perform the following:

  • Update to the latest version of the Dropbox desktop client. To ensure Dropbox continues to sync properly, users should download the latest version of the desktop client, which has been updated for macOS Sierra.
  • Keep the Dropbox folder in the default location, not in Desktop or Documents. To prevent any issues, please ensure the Dropbox folder is in the default location. Updating to the latest version of the desktop client will walk you through the process of moving it to the proper location if it is not already.
  • Manage warning notifications. When users move files from an iCloud-synced folder into Dropbox, they may see warning notifications from iCloud. These are unrelated to Dropbox but can be confusing so users can disable these notifications by following these steps.

The Dropbox help center and blog contain more information on Dropbox and macOS Sierra. If you have any follow up questions, please contact the service desk.
