Gurobi optimization software is available at no cost to academic users for non-profit academic research and teaching. In order to obtain it you must first register by clicking on the Academic Licenses button on Gurobi's Download Center. Be sure to use your MIT email address, otherwise your registration may not be validated.
After you register, you can log in and download the client software by clicking on the "Gurobi Optimizer" button on the Download Center page. Windows, OSX and Linux versions are available. The Quick Start Guide in the download should get you started. We have set up a central license server so you don't need to get an individual license file. In order to access it you need to create a license file gurobi.lic as specified in the instructions. You should put this line in the file using a text editor.
If you're on campus and using wireless you'll need to be on the MIT secure network to access the license server. If you're off-campus you'll need to run the VPN.
