How to Locate and Change Settings for Downloads in Internet Explorer on Windows

Download Manager keeps track of pictures, documents, and other files you download from the web. Files you have downloaded are automatically saved in the Downloads folder. This folder is usually located on the drive where Windows is installed (for example,C:\users\your name\downloads). You can always move downwards from the Downloads folder to other places on your PC.

How to Locate Downloads

  1. Once you have downloaded a file on your Internet Explorer browser on Windows, navigate to the Tools button.
    Result: A dropdown menu will appear.
  2. Select View downloads.
    Result: You will be able to see what you have downloaded from the web, where these items are stored on your PC, and choose actions to take on your downloads.

How to Adjust the Settings for Downloads

  1. Open Internet Explorer and select the Tools button.
    Result: A dropdown menu will appear.
  2. Select the View downloads button.
    Result: You will be able to see what you have downloaded from the web, where these items are stored on your PC, and choose actions to take on your downloads.
  3. Choose a different default download location by selecting Browse and then selecting OK when you're done.
    Result: The location you have chosen will be where downloads are saved to.
