Delete a printer port

I want to delete a printer port from my Windows computer. How do I delete a port?
Context
- This article is not about deleting a printer.
- This article is about deleting the ports that windows printers icons use to send data out to the physical printer devices.
Solution
Deleting a port is possible, but takes careful finesse.
- Delete any printers that use this port.
- Get properties on another printer on your system.
- Click to the Ports tab.
- Look at what port the printer is currently using. REMEMBER IT!
- Click on the port you want to delete. (It will become the "active" port.)
- Click the Delete Port button.
- Click back to the port that you memorized in step 4.
- Click OK to dismiss the properties dialog.
