Configuring MIT LDAP for Thunderbird
These instructions are for both PC and Mac.
- Open Thunderbird and log in to your MIT email account.
- Windows users, go to Tools > Address Book. Mac users, go to Window > Address Book.
- In the Address Book window, select File > New > LDAP Directory....
- Enter any name you would like to describe the directory in the Name field.
- For the Hostname, enter ldap.mit.edu.
- For Base DN, enter dc=mit,dc=edu.
- The Port number should be 389.
- Leave the DN Bind field blank and the Use Secure Connection (SSL) check-box unchecked.
- Click OK. This should return you to the Address Book window.
Note: You must be connected to the internal network for LDAP searches to function.
