The google-sidebar macro inserts a panel on a page that displays in-line search results from Google and Google with an site:ist.mit.edu restriction using the Google search API. It pulls its query term from the URL, specifically from the searchQuery parameter in the URL. Because of this it really only works on Knowledge Base search results pages. It is called from the sidebar macro, which pulls in different sets of sidebar panels depending on which page it is on. The google-sidebar macro is currently displayed on the Knowledge Base Search Results page. It is called with code like this:
{google-sidebar}
from the sidebar macro. If it is used on page that does not pass any query parameters, it will display an informative message of what it would do if it had search terms.
