Q: How can I edit videos on Athena?

Answer

You can use the "Kino" video editing software to create movies from digital video clips. Kino is not installed by default on the cluster machines, so you will need to install the kino package to use it.

Once installed, Kino will be available under "Sound and Video" in the "Applications" menu. Kino can import digital video (DV) clips from .dv files or from a DV camera (note that the cluster workstations do not include IEEE1394 ("FireWire", "i.Link") connections, but private workstations may include them). Kino can also import content from certain kinds of .avi files.

For more information on Kino, see the Kino website.
