Q: What is the student discount on Microsoft Office for Windows?
Context
- Software for MIT students
- Microsoft Office
Answer
Students arriving in August/September 2011 If you're a member of the class of 2015 or an incoming graduate student, please wait to obtain Microsoft Office. We are in the process of negotiating a new license agreement which will allow us to provide Office free of charge to all registered MIT students. We will update this page once we have more info, but we suggest you not purchase a copy at this time. |
It varies over time, but discounts on personal purchases of Microsoft Office through GovConnection (via https://web.mit.edu/ecat/ecat3/ range from about 50% to 75% depending on the edition of Office and included packages.
Note that Microsoft will often run brief but deeply discounted promotions at the start of the fall semester for university students (using your mit.edu address to verify your student status). The deals during these promotions are often better than the year-round pricing MIT is able to negotiate. You'll want to take advantage of them if you can.
Current promotion: Office Ultimate at $79.95 As of August 31st, 2010 Microsoft is running a promotion of Microsoft Office Ultimate at $79.95 through their web site. See Microsoft's The Ultimate Deal for details. Note that this is not an MIT-specific deal and you'll be ordering directly through Microsoft for this promotion. |
