Q: What should I do if someone is harassing me online?

Answer

From MIT Policies & Procedures, Section 9.5:

Harassment is any conduct, verbal or physical, on or off campus, that has the intent or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual or group's educational or work performance at MIT or that creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive educational, work, or living environment.ssment

If you believe you are being harassed:

If you believe you are in immediate danger, call the Campus Police at 617-253-1212 (or dial 100 from any campus phone).

If you would like to talk to someone off the record or get advice on how to proceed, you can contact:

  • Student Support Services: Counseling Deans can provide you with general advice about MIT resources.

  • MIT Ombud Office: The Ombud office can provide mediation services and advice.
    x3-5921 (617-253-5921)
