In order to use Pharos printing you must have both
- an active Kerberos account
- an MIT ID Card (which establishes a linkage between MITID number and kerberos username for the owner of a print job)
While your Kerberos account is active, your printing privileges are valid until the expiration date printed on your student ID card. After that date, if you wish to continue printing, you must visit the MIT Card Office and obtain an alumni/ae card.
Kerberos account deactivation typically takes place during the January following graduation (eg. Students who graduate in January 2012 or June 2012 can expect account deactivation in January 2013).
Once you are no longer a student, your print quota will revert to a "hard" print quota, in that you will be unable to exceed 3000 pages per year. Annual quotas are typically reset each summer in late June, so there may be a short period of time between obtaining your new ID card and your quota resetting to 3000 pages. As always, if you find yourself in an emergency situation and unable to print due to your quota, you can contact email@example.com for a temporary quota increase, or make use of departmental printing resources.
Print quota renews each year.
