How do I reset my certificate profile on Firefox on Athena?

If you have forgotten your master password, or your profile has become corrupted, you will need to reset it. Note that doing so will delete any certificates saved in Firefox, as well as any website login information you have asked Firefox to remember.

To delete your certificates, first completely close any web browser windows, including any you have minimized in the panel. The best way to do this is to press Ctrl+Q, or choose "Quit" from the "File" menu. If you leave any windows open, you will corrupt your profile again and will need to re-run this procedure. Then run:

athena% add infoagents
athena% zap-firefox-certs

and follow the instructions to delete your Firefox certificates.

You will now need to obtain new certificates, which you can do at:

http://ist.mit.edu/certificates/

Note: The script may ask you about your Mozilla certificates. Mozilla is an older web browser no longer in use on Athena. You can answer 'n' to this question.
