Some possible remedies for slowly booting PCs:

Lenovo:

• Disable Wake on LAN in BIOS - Hit Enter 3 times to get to this setting
• Disable unneeded startup processes using msconfig - some of the worst are
  • Skype
  • Weatherbug
  • HP printer management and update programs
  • Instant Messaging software
  • Miscellaneous software updaters (leave Sophos, Java and Acrobat updates)
• Remove obsolete network drive mappings
• Disable Sophos full drive scan at boot - DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK
