How to find information about a computer in a Workgroup

I'm in a Workgroup with other computers. How can I find information about other computers in the same Workgroup?

Context

Windows

Solution

  1. Start up the command prompt (Go to Start > Run, type in cmd and click OK).
  2. In the command prompt type in:
     nbtstat -a "computer name"

This command should return the MAC address of the computer that uses this NetBIOS name.

The output looks like this:

Wireless Network Connection 2:
Node IpAddress: [18.152.5.66] Scope Id: []
           NetBIOS Remote Machine Name Table
       Name Type Status
    ---------------------------------------------
    PCS-GX280 <20> UNIQUE Registered
    PCS-GX280 <00> UNIQUE Registered
    WORKGROUP <00> GROUP Registered
    MAC Address = 00-11-43-1D-94-92
