Working With Modules

Return to Drupal Cloud Landing Page

On this page:

What is a Module?

A module is block of code in Drupal which provides some functionality. Modules are either built into the core Drupal code or are contributed by members of Drupal open source community. Popular contributed modules are often incorporated into Drupal core as time goes on. Modules must be enabled and in some cases configured to work properly.

Several modules are included with the MIT Drupal Cloud distribution. For security purposes, IS&T will distribute all modules centrally. Any Drupal Cloud user at MIT may suggest modules for IS&T to distribute and support in the future. To do so send email to drupalcloud@mit.edu.

What Modules are Available to Use?

For a list of modules available to use:

  1. From the Admin menu, click Modules.
  2. Select a module and click the box to enable or disable.
  3. Click Help to read about more about the module.
  4. Click Configure to change the module options.

Some modules need other modules to also be enabled in order to work. Drupal provides that information to you.
