Windows 10 OEM Licensing

For the many years Windows computers were distributed with a product key sticker that was placed outside of the machine or with your computer's manuals.

Recently manufacturers started storing this license within the machine's UEFI/BIOS and the information is automatically retrieved and applied when reinstalling the operating system.

How can I access the OEM Windows 10 license stored in my computers BIOS?

1. Press Windows key + X
2. Click Command Prompt (Admin)
3. At the command prompt, type:
wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey

How can I change the Product Key on my Windows 10 computer?

1. Use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command.
2. Type slui.exe 3 and click OK to open the Windows activation client.
3. Type the 25-digit product key for the version of Windows 10 you want.
4. Click Next to complete the task.
