MITSIS with Internet Explorer - add-ons must be enabled

I am unable to launch MITSIS, in Internet Explorer 7 or 8, on Windows XP or Windows 7, and am seeing the following message in Internet Explorer:

Solution

In order for MITSIS to properly access the Java Runtime Environment, add-ons must be enabled in Internet Explorer.

If you are unable to enable add-ons by clicking on the message bar, use the following steps:

  1. Close all Internet Explorer windows.
  2. Click the Start button, then select Control Panel.
  3. Select Internet Options.
  4. Click the Programs tab, then click Manage add-ons.
  5. Highlight add-ons that you trust, then select the Enable radio button.
  6. Re-launch Internet Explorer.
