MECM-SCCM Off Campus Access / Cloud Management Gateway

MECM is now available off campus via a Cloud Management Gateway. In order to obtain this additional functionality devices will be required one time to be on prem or VPN in to obtain a communication token. The following functionality is available via the CMG:

  • Inventory updates
  • Software deployments
  • Scripts
  • CMPivot
  • Task sequences including OS upgrades

Where is my client connected from?

  • From the client, open the control panel applet for Configuration Manager. Connection type will say "Currently Internet" if connected to the CMG, or "Intranet" if on prem.
  • From the console, go to your devices list. Right click on one of the columns to select and add the "Device Online From Internet" column. If yes, the device is connected via the CMG.

Please note the CMG token is good for 90 days and will auto renew, however if a device is turned off or not connected to the internet for more than 90 days it will need to be on the MIT network / VPN again in order to obtain a fresh token.
