How to tell Dropbox shared folders from Team Folders

Answer

Dropbox for Business (Enterprise) allows sharing via both folders you own and create in your individual Dropbox account, and via Team Folders created for you and your team by an MIT Dropbox administrator. Both of those kinds of folders are mixed together in your Dropbox (MIT) folder on your computer, and when you look at your Dropbox account on the web.

It can be important to know which is which, since they each count against different quotas:

  • Individual folders you share with others will count against your individual Dropbox quota.
  • Team Folders have their own quota separate from individual user quotas.

The easiest way to tell them apart is by their icons:

On macOS
