Full Diagnostics for Dell Laptops

Onboard Diagnostics

Most Dell laptops use built-in hardware tests outside of the operating system. Press F12 during the POST to access the boot menu and select "Diagnostics."

The machine will start running a quick suite of hardware tests and should take 10-30 minutes to complete.

Full Diagnostics

Once the quick tests have been completed (or cancelled by pressing Escape), a full in-depth suite of tests can be run by checking the box labeled "Thorough Test mode".

Please note the thorough tests can take a long time to complete.

Allow the diagnostics to finish and record the results. Any errors that generate a failure code and validation number must be recorded and entered into the ticket or Dell will not approve of the hardware repair claim.
