VoIP

Definition

Voice Over Internet Protocol. MIT's primary phone service is based on this.
The MIT voip production service is MIT's main IP-based voice service intended to replace traditional ISDN phone service as currently used by MIT departments, labs, and centers. IS&T is responsible for supporting all aspects of the service from the infrastructure to the telephone devices used by staff and faculty.
