Q: How Do I Disable Junkmail Filtering in Outlook 2010?

Answer

NOTE: In Outlook 2010, Junk Mail filtering is configured on a per email address basis. Follow the steps below for each email address for which Outlook 2010 is receiving email:

  1. Start Outlook 2010
  2. Right-click on an email sent specifically to you (username@mit.edu)
    Result: A menu appears.
  3. Select Junk >> Junk E-mail Options
Result: Junk E-Mail Options preferences is opened for the specified email address.
  4. From the Options tab, select "No Automatic Filtering"
  5. Click on "Blocked Senders" and remove any blocked senders from the list
  6. Click Apply
  7. Click OK

Result: Junk Mail filtering is turned off in Outlook 2010 for the specified email address. If you enabled junk mail filtering in any other mail programs (OWA, Apple Mail) or on other computers, you may need to disable them there also.

As Spam filtering is handled on the server for all your email programs and web email access, IS&T recommends turning off Junk Mail filtering in your email programs. Using both systems can cause inconsistent results and prevent your allow/deny lists from working as intended.
