Q: How do I install MIT's personal certificates on Windows Mobile 5 & 6 devices?
Answer
- From your computer, backup your Personal Certificate using Mozilla Firefox:
- Click on "Tools -> Options"
- Click on "Advanced"
- Under "Security" tab, click on "View Certificates"
- Under "Your Certificates" tab, select certificate and click "Backup"
- Give the file a name, "myname.p12" and save (it will be in PKSC12 File format) to your Desktop. You will need to enter a password. This password can be anything, but we suggest something that can be easily entered on the mobile device.
- Connect the device to the Windows PC and connect via ActiveSync.
- Within ActiveSync application, click "Explore"
- Copy the file from Step 1 to the device (e.g. My Windows Mobile-Based Device/My Documents/)
- Disconnect the device from the PC. From the device, tap Start->Programs->File Explorer and locate the file copied in Step 4.
- Tap the file and follow on-screen instructions to install the certificate.
