Q: Install MIT's Root Certificates On Windows Mobile 5 & 6 Devices.
Answer
- Download and save MIT CA (Certificate Authority) to your computer
- For Windows XP/Vista, use Internet Explorer
- Go to http://ca.mit.edu/mitca.crt
- When prompted with File Download message, choose "Save"
- Save the file (default name = mitca.cer) to a location that is easy to remember (e.g. Desktop)
- Connect WM5PPC or WM6Pro device to the Windows PC and connect via ActiveSync.
- Within ActiveSync application, click "Explore"
- Copy the file from Step 1 to the device (e.g. My Windows Mobile-Based Device/My Documents/)
- Disconnect WM5PPC or WM6Pro device from the PC. From the device, tap Start->Programs->File Explorer and locate the file copied in Step 4.
- Tap the file and follow on-screen instructions to install the certificate.
