Q: Install MIT's Root Certificates On Windows Mobile 5 & 6 Devices.

Answer

  1. Download and save MIT CA (Certificate Authority) to your computer
    1. For Windows XP/Vista, use Internet Explorer
      1. Go to http://ca.mit.edu/mitca.crt
      2. When prompted with File Download message, choose "Save"
      3. Save the file (default name = mitca.cer) to a location that is easy to remember (e.g. Desktop)
  2. Connect WM5PPC or WM6Pro device to the Windows PC and connect via ActiveSync.
  3. Within ActiveSync application, click "Explore"
  4. Copy the file from Step 1 to the device (e.g. My Windows Mobile-Based Device/My Documents/)
  5. Disconnect WM5PPC or WM6Pro device from the PC. From the device, tap Start->Programs->File Explorer and locate the file copied in Step 4.
  6. Tap the file and follow on-screen instructions to install the certificate.
