Q: How do I become a contributor to Hermes?

  • How do I become a contributor to Hermes?
  • How can I directly contribute articles to Hermes?
  • How do I request authoring permissions in Hermes?

Context

  • The Hermes knowledge base and help system
  • Members of the MIT community with IT knowledge to share

Answer

IT support providers at MIT are given permission to create and edit articles in the Community Contributions space. IS&T staff can also create and edit articles in IS&T Contributions.

We are gradually opening up the Hermes knowledge base and help system to a wider and wider group of direct contributors from across the MIT community, beginning with IT partners and others in IT roles in MIT departments, labs, and centers (DLCs). If you are interested in directly authoring articles in Hermes and participating in the care and feeding of the knowledge base, please contact us for more information and to to get set up.

The easiest way

The easiest and best way to contact the Hermes team is to fill out the contact form:

The contact form sends email to the Hermes Team at hermes-help@mit.edu. An RT ticket is also created to ensure tracking and follow up on any questions.

Contributions are encouraged

Remember that you can also always suggest an article to be added by someone else, resources permitting. But the surest way to get articles into the KB is to write them yourself!
