Q: How do I control date display formats in Request Tracker ?

  • How do I control date display formats in Request Tracker?
  • Is there any way to get rid of the "Day of the week" part in the "Created" date?

Context

  • Request Tracker (RT) on help.mit.edu
  • Ticket tracking at MIT

Answer

Request Tracker allows each user to configure their preferred date format in personal settings. This setting will carry over to search result listings, ticket displays, and spreadsheet downloads. To change your preferred date display format, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the "Logged in as ..." menu and select "Settings" then "Options"
This will take you to your main "Settings" screen"
  2. Scroll to the section titled "Locale"
  3. Select a preferred date format from the "Date format" popup menu
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click the "Save Changes" button

Some of your RT search results may show "relative dates," such as "5 days ago," instead of absolute dates, such as "03/13/2011 10:39:57." If you need to change from relative date displays to absolute date displays in search result listings, see:
