Q: How can I connect via VPN to the MIT network using Windows 7 64 bit?

  • How can I activate my Windows 64 bit OS from off campus?
  • How can I connect my 64-bit OS from off campus via a VPN connection?
  • How can I run MATLAB or ArcGIS from my 64-bit OS from off campus?

Context

  • Users need to be on MITnet (have an 18.x.x.x IP) to do certain things like: (re)activate MIT's enterprise distribution of Windows 7 or Vista from off campus; run net18 restricted software such as ESRI ArcGIS or MATLAB

64-bit support is now provided through Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client which is available for download from IS&T here
