Q: How can I read newsgroups (Usenet) on Athena?

Answer

SIPB maintains a Usenet server, news.mit.edu, which can be accessed with any Usenet/NNTP client.

A good choice for a graphical newsreader client is Mozilla Thunderbird, available under the Applications menu in the Internet category. (See How do I configure Thunderbird to read newsgroups?)

For text-mode, Pine is pre-configured to connect to the MIT News server.
