Q: How can I avoid a termination fee for my cell phone?

Answer

Don't cancel the service prior to your individual contract's expiration date (1 year for MIT-liable phones). If you need to cancel a phone, try to transfer it to someone else at MIT. If you have a Verizon phone, you can suspend the phone line for up to two months and then reactivate it under another MIT employee in order to avoid paying a termination fee.
