Q: How do I install Kerberos on a non-Debathena Ubuntu machine ?

  • How do I install MIT Kerberos on a vanilla Ubuntu Linux machine?

Context

  • A current Ubuntu machine NOT running MIT Debathena
  • You need to have administrative rights on your Ubuntu machine for follow these instructions

Answer

It is possible to install just the MIT Debathena Kerberos configuration package, however you’ll have to use the manual installation method. Follow steps 1 and 2 only on this page:

Then, you can type:

apt-get install debathena-kerberos-config

That will install the {[kerberos-configuration}} package (as well as a few other dependencies) and then you should be all set.
