Q: Can I opt out of spam filtering?

Context

There's an "Enable junk mail filtering" option in settings. Can I turn it off to turn off spam filtering?

Answer

Somewhat.

For the security of the MIT community, users of MIT email accounts cannot opt out of spam filtering entirely. Known malware and fishing attempts are blocked at the mail servers and not delivered or forwarded.

Turning off the "Enable Junk Mail Filtering" option removes the ability to use your block/allow lists to customize Spam Filtering and identified spam will be delivered to your inbox instead of the Junk folder.
