This article refers to the Cisco AnyConnect VPN. If you're looking for information on the Prisma Access VPN Beta that uses the GobalConnect app, see: Prisma Access VPN Landing Page.

If you're not sure which service you're using, see: [istcontrib:How do I know if I'm using the Cisco AnyConnect VPN or the Prisma Access VPN?]

Answer

Use Official Cisco Clients
IS&T strongly recommends that you use the Cisco clients to connect to the VPN. They have been tested and should work on all supported operating systems. By visiting http://ist.mit.edu/cisco-anyconnect/all in your web browser, you can download and connect using the official Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.
  1. Server to connect to in Cisco AnyConnect:
  2. Enter your MIT username and Kerberos password at the prompt. If Duo Authentication is required, in the "2nd Password" field enter one of the following:
    • push - Duo will send a push notification to your registered cell phone with the Duo Security mobile app installed
    • push2 - Duo will send a push notification to your second registered device with the Duo Security mobile app installed
    • sms - Duo will send an SMS to your registered cell phone
    • Phone -Duo will call your registered phone
    • Phone2 -Duo will call your second registered phone
    • The one time code generated by your hardware token or the Duo Security mobile app (the code changes every 60 seconds)
  3. Once you have submitted your credentials and completed Duo Authentication, if required, you will be welcomed to MIT's VPN. Click Continue to connect.
Result: You are connected to MIT's VPN service.
You may be prompted to download and install the latest VPN client if automatic connect does not work. Follow the instructions provided to download and install the Anyconnect VPN Client. Then try connecting again.
